Peace Comes
First

ሰላም ቀዳሚ ነው

Reuniting and rebuilding relationships among communities divided by conflict. Working towards sustainable peace across Ethiopia.

Who We Are

The Association for Peace in Ethiopia (APE) is a legally registered civil society organization dedicated to building sustainable peace across Ethiopia. Born from a university friendship and forged in the fires of conflict, APE carries forward a founding conviction: that peace is not a secondary outcome it is the essential foundation upon which all else is built.

APE traces its roots to the Rational Thinkers Union, formed in 2009/2010 G.C. by graduating students of Dire Dawa University's Department of Political Science and International Relations. When war erupted in northern Ethiopia in November 2020, the union transformed its grief and unbroken bond into a formal peacebuilding organization.
